A non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a therapy that is based on the theory that the feet and hands have reflex points that correspond to all the organs, glands, and parts of the body.
A reflexologist uses a special thumb and finger technique to apply pressure and move along these reflex points, aiming to find and correct any areas of imbalance, clear any blockages of energy in the body, and promote balance and self-healing.
How many treatments are needed?
Reflexology can be performed as a stand-alone treatment or within a massage session, and is available as a one off treatment or as a series over a period of time. As a complementary therapy, reflexology can be used alongside conventional medicine to support health and wellness.
What does reflexology feel like?
The experience of reflexology varies from a general feeling or sense that is experienced throughout the body, to lightness and tingling in specific areas.
According to this theory, stimulating these points can improve blood and energy flow, reduce stress, and promote healing. Some people believe that reflexology can have various benefits, such as relieving pain, anxiety, fatigue, and enhancing mood, immune function, and general well-being.
Depending on the severity of the condition being treated, the reflexologist may apply different levels of pressure to the feet and hands. The practitioner’s pressure will often cause an opening up within your organs as well as physical perceptions about energy moving through them all at once – both internally but also on its way outwards from where they come into being!
